Terms of use
1. Who we are
Ciarla is provided by Perastro UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Martin-Luther-Straße 47, 10779 Berlin, Germany (“we”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms.
2. The service
Ciarla helps you learn Italian with word and grammar cards, chats and voice chats. Ciarla is currently free of charge. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you in advance; they only apply if you buy them through the App Store or Google Play, under the store’s terms.
Ciarla is a learning aid. It does not lead to a certificate, and we cannot promise a particular level or result.
3. Your account
You need an account to keep your progress after the first session. Give a valid email address, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. An account is for one person. You must be at least 16 years old.
4. AI feedback
Replies and corrections in chats and voice chats are generated automatically by AI. They are usually helpful, but they can be wrong or incomplete. Do not rely on them for anything important outside learning. Please do not enter personal details about others or sensitive information in chats. To keep costs fair, the number of chats per day is limited.
5. Fair use
Do not misuse Ciarla: no attempts to break or overload it, no automated access or scraping, no reverse engineering beyond what the law allows, and no use of the chats to produce content that is illegal or harms others.
6. Content and rights
The learning content, design and software of Ciarla belong to us or our licensors (see Credits). You may use them in the app for your own learning. What you write or say in the app stays yours; you allow us to process it to provide the service, as described in the privacy policy.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep Ciarla available, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access, for example during maintenance or outages of our providers. We may develop Ciarla further and change or remove features, as long as this is reasonable for you.
8. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are only liable for breach of an obligation that is essential to the contract and on which you may rely, limited to the damage typical and foreseeable for this kind of contract. Otherwise our liability is excluded.
9. Ending the use
You can stop at any time and delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). We may close an account if these terms are seriously breached, after a warning where reasonable.
10. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will tell you in the app before the changes apply. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
11. Law
German law applies. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live remain unaffected.
